Dell's crazy thin Venue 8 7000 tablet

Dell's latest Android device is one handsome looking thing

This is the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet. While the name doesn't exactly inspire, the device itself certainly does. To coincide with CES 2015it's finally going on sale and what we've got is the thinnest tablet currently on the market at just 6mm. But that's not all it has to boast about. It's also got a stunning QHD resolution OLED display, a 3D RealSense camera, front facing speakers and ridiculously skinny bezels. And it's a handsome looking thing, for sure.

The tablet itself was originally announced back in late 2013 but it's now only just finally going on sale for $399. Besides what we've already mentioned, for that money you get Intel's latest quad-core Atom CPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage with microSD expansion. In fact the only real downer is that it's launching running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. There will be an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop coming, though.

The 3D camera from Intel is similar to that being used in some of Dell's own laptops, as well as by other OEMs. It's more about capturing depth of field than 3D images that you would need glasses to look at. The OLED display round the front is stunning to look at, and the skinny bezels are what Dell calls its "Infinity Display," also seen on the newly launched XPS 13 Windows 8.1 laptop.

We caught up with Dell at the Las Vegas launch event, and the head of Dell's tablet business, Neil Hand, was there to walk us through it. You'll find that above and some more pictures below.
